A fresh round of enforcement in Jalandhar’s bustling main market created chaos among shopkeepers on Wednesday. Acting against illegal encroachments, a joint team of the Municipal Corporation and Police from Police Station No. 4, led by in-charge Anu, reached the spot and carried out strict action.

According to information, the team removed goods belonging to street vendors and those who had extended their shops illegally onto public pathways. Several carts, cylinders and other items placed on encroached areas were seized on the spot.

This comes just two days after a similar operation was conducted in the same market. However, officials claim that as soon as the team leaves, shopkeepers resume their illegal encroachments without fear.

Locals say that shopkeepers receive advance information about the arrival of authorities and quickly remove their setups — raising serious concerns about the lack of deterrence and respect for municipal laws.

Recent Action at Rank Bazaar

During today’s operation at Tikia Wala Chowk in Rank Bazaar, the team once again seized cylinders and other items placed on public land. Officials have issued stern warnings to shopkeepers, especially since many had reverted to illegal occupation soon after the last raid.
