Action Taken Against Child Begging in Punjab; 22 Children Successfully Rescued

Barnala: The Department of Social Security, Women and Child Development, Punjab, has intensified its action against child begging. Following the directions of the state department and under the supervision of District Programme Officer Pradeep Singh Gill, the district-level Child Begging Task Force carried out extensive checks at various locations.

Officials said that continuous raids are being conducted to identify child beggars, rescue them, and arrange proper rehabilitation.

22 Child Beggars Rescued

District Child Protection Officer Gurjeet Kaur informed that children involved in begging are vulnerable and can easily become victims of crime. She said that whenever such children are found, the department makes every possible effort to ensure their rehabilitation.

Under this initiative, the department has successfully rescued 22 child beggars so far. After counselling the children, they were safely reunited with their parents to ensure they return to a secure environment and break free from the cycle of begging.

Joint Team Involved

Officials and staff from various departments participated actively in this operation. The team included Rupinder Singh Randhawa, Lakkha Singh, Amanpreet Gautam, Pritpal Kaur, Manjit Singh (Education Department), and Manjinder Singh (Police Department).

Authorities stated that such coordinated efforts are crucial in combating child begging and ensuring the safety and well-being of vulnerable children.
