New Delhi, Dec 13 (PTI):
The Centre has seized assets worth ₹92 crore in a major crackdown on Naxal networks, dealing a strong blow to their funding and support systems, the government said on Saturday.

As part of its goal to make India Naxal-free by March 2026, agencies acted together in the operation. The National Investigation Agency (NIA) seized ₹40 crore, state police seized another ₹40 crore, and the Enforcement Directorate attached assets worth ₹12 crore.

The government said this action has badly weakened Naxal groups, including their supporters in cities, by cutting off money and communication channels.

According to official data, only three districts are now considered most affected by Naxal violence in 2025, compared to 36 districts in 2014. This year, 317 Naxals have been killed in encounters, 862 arrested and 1,973 have surrendered.

The Centre said 28 top Naxal leaders have been eliminated in the last two years. It also highlighted major operations and large-scale surrenders in states like Chhattisgarh and Maharashtra.

The number of Naxal-affected districts has come down from 126 in 2014 to 11 in 2025. The government also pointed to better roads, mobile connectivity, police stations, banking and postal services in remote areas as key reasons for the decline in Naxal violence.

The government claimed Naxal violence has reduced by over 70 per cent in the last 11 years. While some small pockets of resistance remain, it said the movement has been largely weakened and efforts will continue till March 31, 2026.
