DGP Urges Citizens to Give ‘Magic Hugs’ to Frontline Cops; Haryana Police Intensifies Crackdown on Crime

Haryana DGP OP Singh has appealed to citizens to give “magic hugs” to frontline police personnel as a gesture of appreciation for their hard work and risks undertaken while fighting crime. In an internal note, he highlighted the tough conditions constables face, often working day and night and living alone without family support.

Operation Hotspots Domination intensified

Under the direction of CM Nayab Singh Saini, Haryana Police has strengthened its crackdown on drugs, illegal liquor trade, and organised crime.

  • On December 1, police teams raided 284 hotspots across all districts.

  • 52 arrests were made and 34 FIRs registered.

  • Large quantities of narcotics, illegal liquor, and cash were seized, along with arms.

Key seizures

  • 3,600 tablets (Alprazolam, Tramadol)

  • 114 capsules (Spasmo Proxyvon, Parvon)

  • 3.07 kg ganja, 350.3 g heroin, 40.68 g smack

  • 13.68 kg poppy husk, 190 kg powdered poppy

  • 90 bottles of country liquor, 72 bottles of illegal liquor

  • ₹82,867 cash, one country-made pistol, one live cartridge

District-wise arrests

  • Karnal: 6

  • Ambala, Gurugram, Narnaul: 5 each

  • Sirsa: 4

  • Faridabad, Panchkula, Sonipat, Panipat, Fatehabad: 3 each

Senior officers said the campaign aims for zero tolerance against repeat offenders, with stricter penalties and close monitoring.
