A grand Nagar Kirtan dedicated to the 350th martyrdom anniversary of Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji commenced on Monday from Gurdwara Chhevin Patshahi Sahib in Srinagar, amid profound reverence and a spiritually charged atmosphere. The procession began with the entire area echoing with chants of “Jo Bole So Nihal” as devotees gathered in large numbers.
On this special occasion, Jammu & Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah was present in Srinagar. He was joined by Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann and AAP national convener Arvind Kejriwal, who participated in the sangat and offered prayers at the gurdwara. The leaders emphasized the message of peace, humanity, and communal harmony propagated by Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji.
The Nagar Kirtan will travel from Srinagar to Jammu, where a large gathering of devotees is expected to welcome it. A major rest event has been scheduled in Jammu on 19 November. The J&K administration, along with gurdwara management committees, has ensured comprehensive security and logistical arrangements for the devotees.
The convoy includes ambulances, a digital museum, langar services, and special religious outreach raths, which have garnered special interest among devotees across Jammu & Kashmir.
Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji taught the importance of freedom of faith, human rights, and universal brotherhood—values deeply connected to Jammu & Kashmir’s composite culture and diverse religious identity. The leaders said Guru Ji’s teachings hold even greater relevance in today’s times.
