Bollywood actor Chandrachur Singh, known for his roles in Kya Kehna, Josh and Maachis, arrived in Aligarh, Uttar Pradesh, seeking official intervention in a dispute concerning his ancestral property. The actor and his mother have alleged that certain family members are attempting to illegally take possession of their ancestral house and other assets.

Actor seeks intervention from district authorities

Singh visited the Aligarh District Magistrate’s office on Wednesday along with his mother, Krishna Kumari Devi. He submitted a formal written complaint detailing the alleged attempts by relatives to take over the property.

According to PTI, Chandrachur Singh has alleged “unauthorised efforts” by family members to seize control of the ancestral haveli and related properties. He is seeking immediate administrative action.

PTI reported:

“Actor Chandrachur Singh is currently in Aligarh amid a dispute over his ancestral haveli and other properties. He has alleged that his own family members are attempting to illegally take possession of the ancestral assets. Chandrachur, accompanied by his mother, visited the District Magistrate’s office, where he met DM Sanjeev Ranjan and submitted detailed information regarding the property dispute, seeking official intervention.”

The actor has provided documents and a timeline outlining the alleged encroachments and attempts at unlawful possession.

District administration begins probe

District Magistrate Sanjeev Ranjan confirmed that the complaint has been received and that an investigation is underway.

Chandrachur Singh: Background

Chandrachur Singh belongs to a family with both political influence and royal lineage.

  • His father, Baldev Singh, served as an MLA from Khair, Uttar Pradesh.

  • His mother, Krishna Kumari Devi, is a princess from Odisha and the daughter of the Maharaja of Bolangir.

He studied at The Doon School, Dehradun, and graduated from St. Stephen’s College, Delhi. Initially preparing for the civil services, Singh later transitioned to a film career.

He made his Bollywood debut in 1996 with Tere Mere Sapne, and received critical acclaim for his performance in Gulzar’s Maachis. He starred in several successful films in the late 1990s and early 2000s, including Silsila Hai Pyar Ka, Josh, Kya Kehna, among others.

In recent years, he has appeared in Aarya, Cuttputlli, and Bayaan.
