Kathua Forest Guard Arrested for Accepting Bribe

Srinagar, March 23, 2025: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has arrested a forest guard from the Billawar zonal office in Kathua district for allegedly demanding and accepting a bribe of ₹35,000.
According to an official statement, the forest guard was caught red-handed while taking the bribe from a complainant. The bribe was reportedly sought for allowing the smooth execution of a contract involving the construction and repair of a road. Additionally, the accused had allegedly taken possession of the key to a JCB machine and demanded a bribe for its release.
The CBI registered a case against the forest guard on March 20, following a complaint. Acting on the tip-off, the agency set up a trap and apprehended the accused while accepting the bribe.
Further investigation into the matter is underway.
