Kisan Samman Nidhi Scheme Scam: 12,500 Couples Caught Taking Double Benefit
Posted on December 8, 2025 by admin
A major fraud has been uncovered in Uttar Pradesh’s Mainpuri district under the PM Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojana. Around 12,500 couples cleverly took double benefits from the scheme. Both husband and wife applied separately and received assistance, even though only one member of a farmer family is eligible.
Key Highlights
-
12,500 couples took double benefits
-
Fraud exposed during Farmer Registry verification
-
Illegally received installments will be recovered
How the Scam Was Exposed
The district is currently conducting the Farmer Registry process. This registry will determine which farmers will be eligible for future government schemes including PM-Kisan.
During the verification, it was found that in thousands of cases, installments were sent to both the husband’s and wife’s bank accounts.
Recovery Has Started
The agriculture department has now decided that:
-
Only the husband will be considered eligible (in these detected cases).
-
All installments sent to the wife will be treated as illegal benefit.
-
The amount given to the wife will be recovered from the husband’s future installments.
-
Future installments of the husband will remain stopped until full recovery is completed.
This has created panic among thousands of farmers—some claim it was a mistake, while others are suspected of intentionally abusing the scheme.
Verification Still Underway
The agriculture department is rapidly identifying all such couples.
Their goal is to ensure that the entire government fund is recovered.
