Dera Bassi, November 12:
Tension gripped Dera Bassi on Tuesday afternoon after a fierce encounter broke out between Punjab Police and members of the Goldy Dhillon gang. The shootout, which occurred in broad daylight, left two gang members injured, both of whom were later rushed to the hospital for treatment.

According to police sources, officers received a tip-off that the gang was planning a major criminal activity in the area. Acting on the information, police teams swiftly surrounded the suspected location. On being cornered, the gang members opened fire at the police, forcing them to retaliate in self-defense.

During the exchange, both suspects sustained bullet injuries. The police have recovered firearms and ammunition from the scene.

SSP Mohali confirmed the incident, stating that a manhunt is underway to trace and arrest the remaining members of the Goldy Dhillon gang who managed to escape during the operation.

“We had credible information about their movement and acted promptly. Two of them are injured, and further investigation is ongoing,” said the SSP.

The encounter has once again highlighted the increasing vigilance of the Punjab Police against organised crime in the region.
