Bathinda: The district traffic police have begun a strict enforcement drive against ‘jugadu’ (improvised) and modified vehicles, launching continuous action across the city. Three-wheeler modified motorcycle carts, altered jeeps, and other unsafe vehicles are being targeted.
Officials said that even Bullet motorcycles fitted with modified silencers that create loud, firecracker-like sounds on the roads have been caught and fined. In several cases, the police removed and destroyed the illegal silencers and issued challans for traffic violations.
During a naka near Hajirant Chowk, many motorcycle carts were also fined for safety violations.
High Court Orders Being Enforced
Police officers stated that the High Court has issued strict instructions regarding modified vehicles, and the administration is ensuring full compliance.
DSP Traffic Manjeet Singh said that no modified vehicle will be allowed to ply on the roads, as such vehicles do not meet safety standards and pose a threat to the public. Traffic rules will be enforced strictly without any relaxation.
Traffic In-charge Major Singh added that the campaign will continue in the coming days, and anyone violating traffic norms will face strict action.
Appeal to Youth
The police have urged youngsters to stop modifying Bullet motorcycles for loud sound effects and warned that anyone found doing so will face strict legal consequences.
