Victim’s Family Refuses Pardon for Nimisha Priya in Yemen Murder Case

The family of a Yemeni man, who was killed by Indian nurse Nimisha Priya, has refused to pardon her, making it harder to stop her execution.
Nimisha was sentenced to death in 2018 for killing her husband in 2017. Reports say she acted to escape an abusive relationship. In Yemen, the death penalty can be avoided if the victim’s family forgives the accused and accepts “blood money.”
However, the family has clearly said they will not accept any money and want justice. Indian officials and rights groups are still trying to save Nimisha’s life through legal and diplomatic talks.
