Woman and Her Companion Brutally Assaulted While Setting Up Shop in Dhanas, Chandigarh; FIR Registered

In a disturbing incident in the Dhanas area of Chandigarh, a woman and her companion were brutally attacked by a group of four to five people while they were on their way to set up a roadside shop.

According to the police complaint, the attackers beat the victims with sticks, fists, and slaps, knocked them to the ground, and threatened them with death.

Victim’s statement

The complainant, Baby (47), daughter of Sardar Ram and a resident of Small Flats No. 453/B, Dhanas, told police that she was heading to set up her rehri (street cart) along with her companion Pooja.

On the way, Babita allegedly stopped them and began abusing them verbally. Soon after, Gudiya, Durga, Savita, and Kanchan arrived at the spot. The group allegedly launched a collective assault on Baby and Pooja, beating them severely after pushing them to the ground.

Baby further alleged that one of the accused threatened to kill her. Both women sustained injuries in the attack.

Police action

Immediately after the incident, Baby called the police emergency number 112. Police reached the spot, gathered details, and registered a case at Sarangpur Police Station.

An FIR No. 0095 has been registered under Sections 115(2), 126(2), 351(2), 351(3), and 3(5) of the BNS (Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita). During the investigation, one of the accused has been arrested, and further investigation is ongoing.

Public concern

Local residents have expressed serious concern over the rising incidents of violence in the area and have urged the police to take swift and strict action against those responsible.

Police officials stated that the matter is under active investigation and appropriate legal action will be taken against all involved.
